Mission: Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) conserves our heritage of open landscapes, working ranches, healthy rivers, wildlife habitat, and vibrant history, while expanding non-motorized recreation opportunities to connect people with the places they love.
History: Since its inception as a 501c(3) non-profit organization in 2006, SCLT has worked with landowners to protect nearly 3,000 acres in Sheridan County through voluntary conservation easements, created 4+ miles of new community trail, and interpreted local history via the Black Diamond Historic Mine Trail auto-tour route. SCLT operates under Land Trust Alliance’s Best Practices; our strategic plan is available upon request.
Goals: SCLT is actively working to create 9+ miles of community trail, new public access sites, conservation easements along the Tongue River and Clear Creek, and other projects that add permanent value to our communities in Sheridan County.
Why Biketober Fest? A community and family friendly event, Biketober Fest provides fun outdoor recreation opportunities for all ages. The race course also highlights SCLT’s Soldier Ridge Trail and conservation acreage – a project completed in 2012 that protects 1100+ acres and provides 4 miles of new public non-motorized trail.
